COUPLING OPTICS
Maximizing Output and Efficiency
LumenFlow has developed several techniques for maximizing the amount of output light from solid-state light-emitting structures such as LEDs. These techniques involve the use of coupling optics, which transmit the greatest amount of light while reducing the geometrical aberrations like chromatic separation. LumenFlow can create uniform fields to transfer optical energy into a secondary system using our patent-pending technologies.
By using multiple optical software platforms and testing methods, our creative approaches to optical element design allow for high efficiency in coupling light sources to an output system. LumenFlow has several patent-pending technologies for coupling optics. These optics can be made to fit within existing housings if necessary.

Example of optical coupling used to illuminate an appliance control dial.
Two LEDs and an optical light spreader show how optical coupling allows for bending and distribution of light.
