LumenFlow's High-Efficiency Optical Coupler (HEOC) can increase the amount of usable light emitted from LEDs by up to 30%. When configured as a scintillator, the increase can be up to 55%.
LEDs emit light at all angles from their surface plane, but the optics currently used for lighting applications can only capture the light emitting at angles less than 70 degrees (half angle). LumenFlow's HEOC captures essentially all the light emitted from an LED, significantly increasing both the amount of usable light and the ability to shape the light. This puts more light where you want it for maximum effectiveness.
The HEOC with Scintillator Technology is a two-piece co-molded assembly that provides additional gains in white light conversion. As a volumetric radiator of omni-directional light, it is ideal as a filament replacement solution. This combination can increase the amount of usable light emitted from an LED light fixture by up to 55%. Alternatively, it will decrease the amount of electricity used to generate an equal amount of light and lower the manufactured cost compared to current white light LED light engines.
